The UAE has urged the international community to urgently fortify global food and water systems against growing disruptions across trade, transport, and energy networks.
Speaking at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, led high-level discussions on safeguarding critical supply chains and food security.
The talks brought together major international bodies—including the World Food Programme, the World Bank, UN Trade and Development, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development—to address how volatility in transport routes, energy markets, and agricultural inputs like fertilizers impacts global food availability and prices.
“Building resilience before crises occur has therefore become a necessity,” said Dr. Al Dahak, emphasizing that food security relies as much on transport and infrastructure stability as it does on crop yields.
