Pakistan’s agri-food trade saw growth on both sides of the balance sheet in July 2026, driven by higher overall export revenues alongside a sharp rise in key import commodities, according to provisional data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Export Highlights
- Rice: Remains the top food export despite sequential dip. Total rice value slipped 6.51% MoM to $55.63M. Basmati exports dropped 14.64% MoM to $21.27M (though still up 37.37% YoY), while other rice varieties held steady at $34.56M (-0.53% MoM, +10.11% YoY).
- Oilseeds, Nuts & Kernels: Recorded the strongest surge, jumping 69.46% MoM and nearly sixfold (+493.70%) YoY to $6.95M.
- Meat & Meat Preparations: Gained solid traction, rising 15.41% MoM and 16.20% YoY to $13.06M.
- Fruits & Vegetables: Fruit sales rose 1.43% MoM to $10.68M (down 33.69% YoY), while vegetable exports climbed 17.40% MoM to $3.57M (down 19.13% YoY).
- Seafood: Experienced the steepest decline, falling 38.69% MoM to $6.27M.
Import Highlights
- Palm Oil: Pakistan’s largest food import item surged 48.98% MoM and 18.60% YoY to $99.93M.
- Beverages & Dairy: Tea imports jumped 22.97% MoM to $16.64M (+42.04% YoY), while milk and infant formula imports grew 12.49% MoM to $5.23M (+24.93% YoY).
- Pulses: Remained on an upward trajectory, rising 3.11% MoM to $22.38M (+8.76% YoY).
- Declining Imports: Spices dropped 10.47% MoM to $5.52M, dry fruits fell 10.11% MoM to $2.12M, and sugar imports plummeted 31.05% MoM to $0.12M.
